It's all fun and royal games until somebody's heart gets hurt
In his line of work, royal heir Darcy Squires-Thornton has always been content playing second fiddle to close friend Prince Adrian, and happy, too, with whatever brief romantic encounters come his way. Especially one with carefree Caroline McKenzie, whose best friend is engaged to the prince. Fun-loving Caroline McKenzie's motto has always been "love the one you're with". But when the one she's no longer with is the one with whom she's fallen in love, what's a girl an ocean away to do?
What people are saying about Jenny Gardiner's books
"As Sweet as a song and sharp as a beak, Bite Me really soars as a memoir about family--children and husbands, feathers and fur--and our capacity to keep loving though life may occasionally bite."

I enjoyed this book just as much as I did the first book in this series. But most of all I loved the character development of not only Darcy and Caroline, but also how Adrian and Emma have progressed from the last novel. The push-and-pull that goes on between them for the majority of the book is some good, angsty stuff, and just interesting enough to hold you attention. I know I was rooting for them all the way, and I wasn't disappointed with the outcome iin the end. In fact; I thought it was rather magical.Product details

Heir Today Gone Tomorrow It Reigning Men Book 2 edition by Jenny Gardiner Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
This is a great series of books.
This is a light romance with characters that continue from a sweet series. The plots are close in
It is predictable but satisfying
There may be more but 3 is enough from this series
Another terrific entry in the It's Reigning Men series! I met the protagonists of this book in Something in the Heir and was really interested to see where their relationship would go. Royal equerry Darcy and vivacious, fun-loving Caroline seemed to have great chemistry and a wonderful time together, but was their hook-up in the States just a fling, or was there potential for something more? Caroline is wondering the same thing when Heir Today Gone Tomorrow starts. To her surprise since she's always been the love 'em and leave 'em type, she can't get Darcy out of her head, but he's in another country and isn't making any effort to further their relationship.
What Caroline doesn't know is that Darcy is dealing with some heavy stuff back home involving his family. No spoilers here, but suffice it to say that romance is the last thing on Darcy's mind until Caroline shows up in Monaforte to help her BFF with wedding preparations. The push-and-pull that goes on between them for the majority of the book is some good, angsty stuff, and I could understand where both characters were coming from. I really felt for the two of them and had my fingers crossed that they'd be able to overcome all their issues and find a way to make it work.
Aside from the romance, another thing I really enjoyed about this book was seeing some serious personal growth in Caroline. She was the devil-may-care, wisecracking sidekick in Book One, but she really got a chance to shine and develop in Heir Today. I was glad to see her find some purpose and passion via a new career that happens very organically, and she made some new friends so that she wasn't totally dependent on Emma anymore.
This book also set up the story for the final installment in the trilogy by introducing the very Prince Harry-like Zander (Adrian's brother) and a mysterious blonde. I can't wait to see how Ms. Gardiner wraps up this very entertaining series and I highly recommend these books to anyone who enjoys a diverting, romance-filled read with just the right amount of spice.
I just finished reading this story after reading the first book Something in the Heir and enjoyed both books. Both stories kept me reading and joining the two sets of friends and their families. Keep writing Jenny and I'll keep reading.
Love the character development of not only Darcy and Caroline but also how Adrian and Emma have progressed from the last novel. How Gardiner built up to not only the royal wedding but to how Darcy dealt with his father's death and gaining lordship...oh and how he and Caroline reconnect. I do want to add that Gardiner not only reconnects this book with the last but introduces the characters of the next book in a very intriguing way.
When I purchased this book I had no idea it was second in a series. That being said, I enjoyed it and it gave enough background on the first book to make This book stand alone. It was a really enjoyable and fun read. Totally recommend it.
Disappointed oh my, Darcy and Caroline are let-down after reading about Emma an Adrian, even though Darcy and Carol were In the first book. Try to justify why Caroline was an insecure love them and leave them type of girl made her way to s***** come on I just couldn't get into this book very disappointed
